Qatar, Sweden establish Joint Business Council to enhance cooperation in key sectors
Qatar Chamber aims to develop cooperation, exchange expertise and expand investment opportunities available on both sides
The Qatar Chamber recently hosted a high-level business delegation from the Kingdom of Sweden, led by H.E. Minister of International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa. The delegation included heads and representatives of more than 40 Swedish companies operating across various economic sectors.
The joint business meeting, held at the chamber’s headquarters, was attended by H.E. Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Sayed, and H.E. chairman of Qatar Chamber, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al-Thani.
During the meeting, leaders from Qatar and Sweden discussed cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the commercial and economic fields. They also addressed the investment climate and opportunities available in both countries, as well as the role of the private sector in stimulating mutual and joint investments and enhancing trade exchange.
Qatari–Swedish Joint Business Council established
During the delegation’s visit to Qatar, H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, H.E. Benjamin Dousa, and H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani witnessed the signing of an agreement to establish the Qatari–Swedish Joint Business Council.
Speaking at the event, H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani underscored the Qatar Chamber’s interest in developing cooperation, exchanging expertise and expanding investment opportunities available on both sides.
He also noted that Qatari-Swedish relations have seen significant growth over the past few years, particularly in sectors such as technology, innovation, renewable energy, and healthcare, stressing the Qatari private sector’s keenness to deepen cooperation with its Swedish counterpart through joint ventures and expertise exchange, with the aim of achieving sustainable economic development in both countries.
Sheikh Khalifa also emphasized that the signing of the Qatari–Swedish Joint Business Council marks a pivotal step in enhancing cooperation, affirming that the council will serve as a platform to bring together business leaders and companies from both Sweden and Qatar, facilitate joint investments and boost bilateral trade exchanges.
Sheikh Khalifa added that Qatar is steadily advancing toward building a sustainable, knowledge-based economy, offering significant opportunities for Swedish companies to establish investments and forge strategic partnerships in the country.

Qatar, Sweden seek stronger investment ties
Sheikh Khalifa called on Swedish companies to invest in Qatar and collaborate with Qatari businesses, stressing that Qatar today stands as a leading hub for business and investment, supported by world-class infrastructure, an attractive investment climate, and progressive legislation that permits 100 percent foreign ownership in most economic sectors.
For his part, the Swedish Minister also called on Qatari companies to invest in Swedish technology, noting that Sweden is among the world’s top-ranked countries in innovation.
Meanwhile, Jan Larsson, CEO of Business Sweden, stated that the Swedish delegation looks forward to strengthening cooperation with Qatari companies and investing in Qatar. He highlighted that Qatar National Vision 2030 provides numerous opportunities for collaboration with the Qatari private sector, particularly in sectors such as innovation, digitization, education, healthcare, industry, technology, renewable energy and more.
Larsson also emphasized that Swedish companies are recognized for their expertise and innovation and are eager to partner with Qatari firms on joint projects and mutual investments in various sectors, both in Qatar and Sweden. He noted that the visit aims to establish partnerships and sign deals with Qatari counterparts, fostering mutual benefits for the economies of both friendly nations.
