Over 170 Chinese Companies Meet Moroccan Delegation in Hunan to Boost Trade Cooperation

Rabat – More than 170 companies from China’s Hunan Province met with around 15 Moroccan business representatives on Monday in Changsha, as part of the Morocco-Hunan Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum.

The two-day event, organized by the Embassy of Morocco in China and the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, aims to strengthen bilateral economic ties and explore new opportunities for trade and investment between the two countries.

The Moroccan delegation included members of the Morocco-China Business Council, which is part of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), as well as representatives from around 15 companies. These companies operate in various sectors such as food industries, construction materials, textiles, logistics, and consulting services.

Meanwhile, most of the participating Chinese companies are active in industrial equipment manufacturing, automobiles, electronics, renewable energy, biotechnology, construction, and agricultural technologies.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Morocco’s Ambassador to China, Abderrahman Ansari, recalled Morocco’s geostrategic and economic advantages as a gateway connecting Africa, Europe, and North America. He noted that Morocco’s many free trade agreements make it an ideal hub for investors seeking access to these markets.

The ambassador also underlined Morocco’s political stability and strong economic foundations, pointing to the new Investment Charter and major infrastructure projects in industry, logistics, energy, and technology as key drivers of growth.

Several Chinese companies already operating in Morocco shared their success stories during the forum, especially in construction, energy, and automotive industries. They commended Morocco’s high-quality infrastructure, safe business environment, and the ease of integration into the local market. Many encouraged Hunan-based companies to further explore investment opportunities in Morocco.

On the sidelines of the forum, business-to-business (B2B) meetings were held between Moroccan and Chinese participants, allowing them to establish direct contacts and discuss potential partnerships.

The Moroccan delegation also visited several industrial zones in Hunan to learn more about the province’s dynamic economy and explore new areas of cooperation.

Hunan Province, located in central China, covers an area of 210,500 square kilometers and has a population of about 67 million. It is known for its strong industrial base, particularly in equipment manufacturing, automobiles, renewable energy, and biotechnology.

The forum marks another step in deepening economic relations between Morocco and China, building on the growing partnership under the Belt and Road Initiative.
