PMD Business Finance, an independent finance provider based in Greater Manchester, has announced the launch of a new debt advisory service aimed at enhancing support for SMEs and their professional advisors in navigating the increasingly complex debt finance landscape.

The new service will be led by PMD director Callum Bull and will bring together a team of seasoned finance professionals, including John Platt, head of structured finance; Mark Millhouse, head of invoice finance; structured finance director Kai Wynne-Jones; and newly appointed structure finance director Debbie O’Grady, who joined earlier this year from Leonard Curtis. Lewis Alessandra will support the function in a relationship management role, while PMD CFO Nick Dumper – formerly of PwC and CarFinance247 – will provide strategic oversight.
This move sees PMD expanding beyond its established credit broking operations to offer a more consultative service, including strategic funding planning, critical product analysis, financial modelling, and marketing material development. The aim is to help SMEs secure the right debt structures to support long-term growth while complementing the advice of existing professional services firms.
“Our new debt advisory services will enable us to build further upon what we’re already doing to support business leaders and management teams,” said Callum Bull.
“We recognise that all businesses are at different stages of their journey, so we’ve put together a team with wide ranging specialisms and a track record of supporting clients to find, evaluate and select the debt finance option that’s right for them.”
John Platt added: “Rather than simply connecting businesses with the funding to meet their immediate or medium-term needs, our aim with the debt advisory team is to go deeper in understanding the long-term strategic objectives of our clients.”
The launch of the debt advisory division is part of PMD’s wider growth strategy. Recent milestones include a move to larger premises at Howarth Court in Oldham and an expanded team now numbering 65 employees, with room for further growth.
Since its inception in 2010, PMD Business Finance has facilitated over £1.2 billion in funding for more than 12,000 UK businesses. The firm has been recognised at the NACFB Industry Awards every year since 2021.
