Premier Li Qiang’s remarks at the Summer Davos Forum have offered clarity and confidence in an uncertain world, global business leaders said after listening to his speech in Tianjin on Wednesday.
Li delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF), or the Summer Davos Forum, sending a strong signal of China’s commitment to openness and global cooperation.
The WEF President Borge Brende said Premier Li’s speech sent out strong messages in the current global situation.
“Premier Li underlined the importance of win-win approach both to trade but also on economy, underlined also that China is still growing at a good pace, and also welcomed the investment in China. So, that was a strong message I think in the current global situation,” he said.
China’s stable environment has boosted confidence for global traders and investors. Business leaders said Premier Li’s speech was inspiring.
“He did highlight the stability of the China market. If you compare to many of the other countries in the world, probably China provides the most stable environment here. And he highlights the openness, the consistency of the policies and also the openness of the China market to the rest of the multinational companies. So, it gave us a lot of inspiration and also confidence about the market here. So, [it was] fairly impressive,” said Samantha Zhu, Chairperson of Accenture Greater China.
“The key message, they feel that the best way forward is to trade with each other, so we get to know each other, and everything can be resolved at the table,” said Hussain Dawood, Chairman of Engro Holdings.
In his speech, Premier Li called on the international community to take constructive actions in carrying out international economic and trade cooperation. China is willing to do whatever it takes to help tackle the difficulties and challenges facing the global economy, Li said.
“The message sent out by Premier Li this morning has been very very positive. He emphasized the resilience of the Chinese economy and also the importance and benefits that different countries and different economies can benefit from globalization,” said Liu Qiao, dean, Guanghua Management School, Beijing University.
The meeting, running from June 24 to 26, brings together over 1,700 leading figures from more than 90 countries and regions to explore how entrepreneurship and emerging technologies can unlock more dynamic and resilient economies.

A snow leopard, a wild species under China’s national first-class protection, was caught with her cub by an infrared camera in the Gahai-Zecha National Nature Reserve in northwest China’s Gansu Province.
In the footage collected recently by the nature reserve staff, the two snow leopards are strolling leisurely through the snow in single file. The curious mother approached the camera lens, followed by her cub, estimated to be about one year old, who sniffed at the device.
These are the first such images ever recorded in this conservation area since the reserve initiated snow leopard monitoring in 2018, offering scientists never-before-seen insights into how these endangered cats live and raise their young in this region.
Snow leopards are listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
In recent years, the Gahai-Zecha National Nature Reserve has intensified efforts in biodiversity conservation. Through measures including optimizing eco-environment monitoring network systems and conducting public awareness campaigns, the reserve has created favorable habitats for snow leopards and their prey, significantly enhancing the stability of its ecosystem.
The latest data from the National Forest and Grassland Administration indicates the sustained growth of China’s snow leopard population, with the number of monitored individuals exceeding 1,200.
