ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

McDougall Energy is looking for a strategic thinking self-starter with strong attention to detail as a Finance Manager. Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Finance Manager is a highly visible member of the Finance team responsible for leading the financial reporting and analysis functions of the company.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of year-end external audit working papers, lead sheets and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and champion operating expense profit planning and reporting for business lines operational managers.
  • Assist with training to ensure finance resources are knowledgeable on accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare provincial and federal regulatory reports within appropriate deadlines.
  • Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as required by management.

ABOUT YOU: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance from an accredited University
  • Chartered Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) in good standing
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a management role; industry experience an asset
  • Superior management experience in the accounting function in a computerized and accounting software environment; ERP experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large volumes of data; Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Superior organization and prioritization skills; committed to deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to shift focus with ease
  • Proficient in working with Microsoft Office; specifically, Excel
  • Strong understanding of Privacy and Confidentiality in the workplace
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships
  • Demonstrated success in living the values of The M.E.I. Way
