Doosan Efficiency announced on the 27th that it signed a business support agreement with the International Nuclear Nonproliferation and Cooperation Center (INC) under the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KINGS) to expand nuclear power plant exports. Officials from both sides attended the signing ceremony, including Hwang Ju-ho (President of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power), acting president Kim Chang-rak, director of the center Hwang Yong-soo, and Kim Jong-doo, chairman of Doosan Energy BG.

With this agreement, the two sides agreed to work together to strengthen international nuclear non-proliferation and expand nuclear power plant exports. Accordingly, it plans to strengthen the nuclear cooperation system with the United States in the field of nuclear security and cooperate in developing policies and creating a friendly environment for nuclear power plant exports, such as strengthening domestic supply chains. In addition, in order to respond to the power demand caused by the expansion of AI data centers, we will cooperate in developing SMR technology and building supply chains, and establish a nuclear non-proliferation culture to promote the peaceful use of nuclear power.

The International Center for Nuclear Nonproliferation Cooperation was established in July 2024 by KEPCO International School of Atomic Energy and is working with the U.S. Nuclear Security Agency (NNSA) and the Sandia National Laboratory (SNL), which are in charge of the international community’s nuclear nonproliferation and nuclear export control. It has established strategies for overall nuclear exports from large nuclear power plants to small module nuclear power plants (SMR), nuclear dismantling, and spent nuclear fuel, and has signed strategic partnerships with domestic and foreign institutions to establish various cooperative relationships.

“This agreement will contribute to the international community’s efforts to non-proliferation and strengthen the competitiveness of nuclear exports,” said Kim Jong-doo, head of Doosan Energy’s BG. “We will actively work to strengthen the domestic nuclear industry’s position in the global nuclear power market through continuous cooperation with the International Nuclear Nonproliferation Cooperation Center.” Reporter Lee Sang-gyu
