The Piraeus and Famagusta Chambers of Commerce have agreed to deepen their long-standing partnership through a new operational framework aimed at boosting trade, innovation, and joint action on shared challenges.
The agreement was formalized during a joint board meeting in Piraeus, marking a strategic upgrade to a relationship that began with a twinning pact in 1971 and was last renewed in 2021.
The new framework focuses on key sectors including exports, shipping and logistics, tourism, and startup development. The goal is to promote outward-looking entrepreneurship and coordinate efforts on issues such as supply chain efficiency, labor shortages, and sustainable development.
A key outcome of the meeting was the decision to establish a permanent joint working group. It will identify challenges faced by member businesses – especially exporters – and submit joint proposals to Greek, Cypriot, and EU authorities. Sector-specific representatives will be appointed in the coming weeks to define shared priorities and shape a forward-looking agenda.

In parallel, the two chambers plan to co-organize trade missions, B2B meetings, and joint participation in exhibitions and EU-funded development programs. They also aim to strengthen knowledge exchange in areas such as sustainable logistics, shipping, and regional development.
Vassilis Korkidis, president of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), highlighted that institutional partnerships are increasingly vital in today’s geopolitical and technological landscape.
“This collaboration is not only economically important, but also symbolic,” he said. “It shows that business ties can contribute to stability, cooperation, and even national unity.”
On his part, FCCI President Charalambos Manolis praised the enduring relationship between the two chambers and expressed confidence that this next phase of cooperation will generate tangible results for member companies on both sides.
The chambers have already seen results: in 2022, they co-hosted the first Famagusta Business Forum in Ayia Napa. The Piraeus Chamber now also hosts the Famagusta Chamber’s first permanent office space in Greece, underscoring the institutional strength of the partnership.
